The Greater Accra Youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in collaboration with the office of the National Youth Organizer of the NPP will tomorrow hold a sports festival at the Osu Klottey Constituency in the Greater Accra Region in a move to foster unity amongst them.
According to a statement jointly signed by the NPP National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku and Prince Obeng Gt. Accra Regional Youth Organizer, the event dubbed ‘Uniting through Sports for Victory 2016’, “will bring together thirty four (34) youth wings in the Greater Accra Region under a common roof to partake in various sports disciplines and more importantly afford us the opportunity to fraternise and build the needed cohesion and chemistry ahead of the 2016 general elections”.
“Again, given the active role being played by the youth in the various camps of all flag bearer aspirants of the party, we consider such a festival to be a useful platform to celebrate our diversities as a party.
According to the organizers of the program participants can attend the festival in branded T Shirts of their preferred flag bearer aspirants to signify “unity in diversity”
Most of the NPP youth have pitched camps with various flag bearer aspirants but their contributions especially on social media leaves much to be desired. This sports festival is therefore seen as a bold initiative to calm tempers.
