The issue of Ghana’s bedridden economy will forever be an issue of concern until it is curtailed by the current Mahama-led NDC government.
Despite President John Dramani Mahama’s vigorous effort to curb the economic hardship been experienced by Ghanaians in recent times, many believe the president is not making much effort.
However, a renowned Ghanaian economist and 2012 Vice presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party [NPP], Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia insists that the president’s effort to reform the economy is rather creating problems for the citizenry.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd during Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s campaign launch at Akoto Lantey, a suburb of Accra in the Odododiodio Constituency, Dr. Bawumia opined that “The economic hardship is now unbearable and this government [NDC] led by President Mahama have proven that they can’t govern”.
Adding that, “We manage economy to solve problems not to create problems. The cedi depreciation is due to poor management by the government”.
He however appealed to the electorate to consider the leadership of Nana Addo as Ghana’s President in 2016 to solve the ailing economy with his [Bawumia] first-rate ideas as an economist and a vice president.
“With the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and me, we will help solve the economy,” he said.
