A Minister of State at the presidency is expressed confident in the newly elected national executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah is optimistic the Kofi Portuphy-led national executives will give the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) a run for their money.
Delegates of the NDC in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi over the weekend changed leadership of the party.
The congress at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium saw National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) elected as chairman. General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia proved unbeatable and retained his seat.
But his close allies, Dr. Kwabena Adjei and Yaw Boateng Gyan suffered a humiliating lost at the congress.
Many believe this current executive is the team the NDC needs to retain President Mahama in power.
In support, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on Accra based radio station; Oman FM described the team as a �tough striking force�.
He said they have what it takes the much the NPP boot for boot in the run-up to the 2016 electioneering campaign.
Afriyie Ankrah called for all hands on deck for a resounding victory in 2016.
