Eastern Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng has called on all the opposition NPP MPs in the Eastern Region and other regions to render account on how their share of the government loan was used in their various Constituencies.

According to him, the NPP MPs should stop telling Ghanaians that nothing has come out of the various loans that President Mahama-led government had gone in for.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Mr. Tawiah Boateng was emphatic that President Mahama alone is not obliged to develop the country as it is also the responsibility of the MPs to assist their constituents to put up social amenities with their share of the Monitoring and Evaluation money.

“NPP MPs rather use their monies to buy jersey for their people while the people need water and good road to help them carry their food stuffs from the farm. Is it wrong for the MPs to grade their roads with the funds they received; what we have to ask is who do they account to?” he quizzed.

He was of the view that since the NPP MPs are complaining about hardships in the country, they should help their constituents by offering half of their GH¢7,200 monthly salaries to their various districts in the constituencies to build toilet facilities and other needed projects.

He insisted that the NPP MPs explain to Ghanaians what they are using their share of the loan the NDC government has gone in for so those who vote for them can see their effort to improving lives in the constituencies.

“They take these monies every 3 or 6 months and ever since they went into recess, I have never seen any of them calling their constituents to explain to them the happenings in Parliament and the projects they are embarking on in the constituencies. Or has any NPP MP commissioned any project in their constituency? The monies they are receiving from government, what are they using the monies for? If President Mahama is going in for too much loans and the NPP MPs are complaining about them, they should come out to explain to Ghanaians what they are using their share of the loans for,” he demanded.

“It shouldn’t be that the government has gone for a loan and nothing has come out but they should tell us how they are utilizing their share of the loan in their constituencies. If only they offer half of their salaries to the Assemblymen in their constituencies, it will help a lot. We should hear from them commissioning school buildings, toilet facilities and other social amenities then we will know they are using their share of the loan to help their constituencies...it is not the President alone that governs a nation,” he added.
