Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has commended President John Mahama for his call for national unity and support, as the government takes steps to address the challenges confronting the country.
“The President spoke well. He is the first gentleman of the land, and his call for unity is in the right direction” he said, and urged President Mahama to lead the fight for unity for others to follow.
The former President was sharing his thoughts with the media on the country’s 58th Independence Day celebration after yesterday’s parade at the Black Star Square in Accra.
Former President Kufuor called on Ghanaians to put aside their differences, unite, and help build a strong economy for future generations.
He said the pursuit of economic independence would be realised if Ghanaians put aside their differences and worked towards a common goal.
On how the challenges confronting the nation could be resolved, Mr. Kufuor suggested the formulation and implementation of good and practicable policies whichwould permanently address the problem.
The 76-year-old former President, with by a walking stick, urged the public to use the occasion to reflect on how they would contribute to make the country better, for the future generations.
