Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho has resolved to begin proceedings in the House at exactly 10:00am from hence.According to him, proceedings in the House have started late at most times and that is affecting business.

Addressing Members of Parliament on Wednesday, February 3, Speaker Adjaho expressed worry how he would sometimes come early only to be turned away by the clerk with the pretext that there are few members in the House.

The situation has influenced many ministers of state, most of whom report late anytime they are due to answer questions from the lawmakers.

A case in point on Wednesday involving the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, led to intense debate between the Deputy Minority Leader, Dominic Nitiwul, and Majority Leader Alban Sumana Bagbin.

“We are part of the problem,” Mr Adjaho, who was MP for Akatsi South Constituency, said.

He, therefore, vetoed the late start of proceedings in the chamber.

“Let us resolve from today that 10:00am, we will all come here from our offices [and] start then you can go back to our offices.”

According to him, this will also allow the ministers to come early enough and later go and see to other functions.
