Three people got hurt, two of them seriously, when supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) clashed at Sankore in the Asunafo South District.
The injured were identified as Yaw Owusu, 21, Abubakari Sadiq, 20, and Mohammed Murtala, 32.
Police Sergeant Sampson Gbande, acting Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.
He said a combined team of police and military personnel had restored calm to the place and that no arrest had been made.
He said Owusu and Sadiq were now on admission at the Goaso Government Hospital while Murtala was treated and discharged.
A group of NDC supporters led by one ‘Otafregya’ was said to have gone to the Sankore police, claiming that, they had been insulted and attacked by their opponents from the NPP, who were celebrating the party’s election victory, as they rode through the town.
Sgt. Gbande said this was at about 1000 hours on Monday and that before the police could act on their complaint, the group decided to take the law into their own hands - picked sticks and stones, blocked the main Sankore street to prevent vehicular movement and started attacking the NPP supporters.
That led to a free for all fight and the Goaso Divisional Commander had to call for reinforcement to bring the situation under control.
The two groups fled when the police and military reinforcement arrived.

They had planned it already but just tried to involve the police cos i dont understand why they should block roads if not fight they want
The police have created this because they refuse to make arrest and attributes such occurrence to politics. They are there all the time with these criminals but refuse to act. How come the constituency is always on fire. Where is the Regional minister who is the MP for the area.
Go after Eric Opoku, the MP cum regional minister because he's the main problem in the area. Leave the poor guys alone.
That is what the ndc planned before their humiliated defeat. They are smart in kriminal activities but lack sense to govern a nation. They think they can turn the country into chaos after their defeat and how can such a violent and murderous party ever come to power again after Ghanaians have rejected them through free and fare elections. Their footsoldiers must be careful for the rule of law has mo respect for anyone. If they want to go to jail they should continue with their bufo*nery. Their party is still in power with less than 3 weeks to go to opposition so if they don't stop their an*mal attitude they will go to jail. The police should have arrested the guy who came to report because it was a hoax, that's what they've been doing, raising false alarm NPP has no time for them since vengeance belong to God but the rule of law will take care of them. Ndc footsoldiers shouldn't be deceived by their officers because their party is not coming any soon when the ROPA is implemented. You think NPP will sit down for this over 1 million votes to be overturned for the ndc to win?forget about power, Ghanaians are tired and enough of ndc arrogance, disrespectfulness, vilification, denigrating, thi*ving, stubbornness and get rich quick to make the masses poor. Noway for ndc !
