One remarkable remark made by Ghana’s current president during his inaugural ceremony was his commitment to protect the country’s public purse.
The issue has dragged on after last Saturday’s ceremony and the Member of Parliament for the Effia constituency, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, believes President Nana Akufo- Addo must be commended for his pledge.
Speaking on ATV’s political affairs show dubbed Asem Yi Di Ka, the legislator explained that with the commitment made by the president, it shows he wouldn’t be handling the public purse like a “perforated bucket”.
According to him some social interventions under the administration of the National Democratic Congress such as SADA, Subah allowed moneys to get out the public purse without being tracked by state authorities.
President of the republic of Ghana, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Saturday promised to protect the “purse” of the state to project businesses during his swearing in.
He had earlier promised to curb corruption in government which many believed was rampant in the former administration led by Ex-President John Dramani Mahama.
“I will protect public purse” – he said during his inauguration ceremony at the independent square on Saturday.
