The National Democratic Congress (NDC), is unhappy with the performance of the leadership of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, especially, the Chairman, Joe Osei-Owusu in the ongoing vetting process.
The party believes the Chairman is “over-protecting” various minister nominees appearing before it, and not “allowing the minority to flow more”.
This position was reiterated by the National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams, who told Citi News “the leadership is just there to frustrate the work” of the committee.
“I don’t think that it’s decent enough. They should allow the minority to scrutinize those appearing before them because at the end of the day, when they get confirmed, they are going to be working for Ghana, using the authority of the state,” Mr Adams said.
He noted that, the Chairman’s position “sometimes even embarrasses his own members”.
“I have witnessed instances where the Majority Leader even came in to say that he believed that some questions that had been overruled by the chair of the committee should be allowed to pass, but when the ranking member feels that a ruling is not in the best interest, and the nominee should be made to answer, he doesn’t allow.”
Thirteen minister nominees have been vetted so far.
These include Minister Nominees for the Agriculture, Education, Health, Foreign, Finance and Local Government and Rural Development. The rest are Senior Minister, Energy, Trade and Industry, Attorney General, Defence, Interior and National Security.
While some have endured what has been described by many as grueling moments before the committee, others have sailed through rather easily.
Despite his stance that the Minority is being hindered, Kofi Adams said the minority members on the committee are doing their best in probing the issues.

Your MPs are not smart and well informed? they should read to understand and think. Its not a propagandist forum or some radio studio. Abide by simple rules and common sense.
A kettle calling the tea cup very black. Please there is a paradigm shift and we are moving forward because change has come for the better. This is not the time for babies with sharp teeth.
wh3 no k.w.a.sia
Kofi they are not asking anything good.
Kofi Adams will sh*t up? Who are your mps?how can wisdom compete with fooools? Ndc mps are disgusting, they have shallow minds and do not deserve to be in Parliament.Even the majority whose nominees are being vetted ask sensible questions than the minority babies with dull brains but sharp teeth.I'm not surprised the founder is dumb founded and disgusted about these crop of ndc. Once upon a time in the 1990s Ghana had young and brilliant parliament,in both divide of the house when even the NPP boycotted parliament about 2 or 3 independent opposition were fantastic. Then the NPP took part in the 1996 which made our parliament so interesting every Ghanaian loved to listen to the radio or watch the TV when panels of both divide in Parliament sort things out, you could see big brains were working. These John Mahama boys in Parliament are like they never stepped in the classroom, they ask st*pid questions that are irrelevant to the building of this nation, they are so immatured that I can conclude the 3 years SHS is damaging the generation of today. We can't build a nation with loud mouth disrespectful and arrogant youth. Ndc youth are disrespectful, arrogant, insulting and immatured that they making the party unattractive to decent and respectable people I think it is about time President Rawlings get hold of his party and put some discipline into it before his legacy decimate. I feel pity for him and his wife. They were very young when they came to power but were more matured than these youth in their party. In fact ndc has a lot of foooools in that party,I don't know if it's because of the foreigners whose culture and tradition are different from ours. Compare ndc to all the other political parties in Ghana and you can see that ndc is sh*t and disliked by most indigenous Ghanaians.
what is wrong with this 1*D-10T, good for nothing talkative, talking by-heart, it seems he has not yet recover from the elections defeat, or better still he should rather see Dr Osei Akwasi at the mental hospital, he should give us a break
