The Member of Parliament for Bodi constituency and a member of the Appointments Committee in Parliament, Sampson Ahi says the Minority has rejected the Minister-designate of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba for recommendation to the plenary.
“There is a general consensus for us in the Minority not to support Otiko because of her posturing before the committee and her response to some questions that were asked her during vetting yesterday. Off-course her approval will be by the majority when it comes to the floor for consideration,” Mr. Ahi told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Wednesday.
The MP said they will register their position for the public to know why the nominee was rejected by the minority members on the committee.
Gender Minister-designate Otiko Afisa Djaba who faced the vetting committee yesterday was in the news for several controversial issues that popped up at vetting Tuesday.
Her refusal to apologise to former President John Dramani Mahama for some “distasteful” comment she made against her prior to the 2016 election is undoubtedly one of the topical issues that might have dimmed her chances to be supported by the NDC minority side on the committee.
She’s reported to have upheld her earlier comments that Mr. John Mahama was “Wicked” and an “embarrassment” due to his inability to develop the three Northern country where he comes from.

Even Oti Bless and Fiifi Kwetey were recommended for ministerial appointments. But for the law backing the vetting, left to me alone its waste of time and resources.
It hurt me when minority members want to pretend that they didn't say anything bad about Nana Addo. You can say all the things you want but trust me she will go through but the ndc and it's co hot to know that their arrogance and lies will not lead them anywhere. They should build on their lies but no one will take them serious and they will stay in opposition for a long time trust me.
I am lost in the gutter. What is the purpose of the vetting. Instead of you asking relevant questions that has to with the person ability to deliver on the portfolio, you are rather asking sentimental questions that calls sentimental response. Apart from Hon Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka who are able to think deep and ask good questions, the rest of the minority members are just there to propagate Mahama. We voted for you to go and do diligent work not what we are see from the likes of Alhassan Suyini. He is too know and just wants to be heard. I dont know where he gets his questions from.
As if your minority view matters in the scheme of things. You Ahi can't even express yourself in English but was approved as a deputy minister. Shame on you for the time wasting and needless questions. Remember the general public is also vetting your performance.
I'M GETTING DISAPPOINTED IN OUR MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT. VETTING IS A KIND OF PROBING INTO A NOMINEE TO FIND OUT THE CORE COMPETENCES OF THAT PERSON, TO FIND OUT IF THE PERSON CAN PERFORM IN THE POSITION HE OR SHE IS PURPORTED TO HOLD BUT IT'S SEEMING THAT THE MINORITY IS JUST INTERESTED IN WHAT THE NOMINEE SAID ABOUT THEIR PARTY FAITHFUL. OTIKO,FOR EXAMPLE, WILL NOT BE GIVEN THE NOD JUST BECAUSE SHE CRITICIZED A FORMER PRESIDENT? AMAZING! THE QUESTION THEN IS,PUTTING ASIDE THE CRITICISM, IS SHE REALLY COMPETENT TO TAKE THE MANTLE? BUT SUCH THINGS ARE MISSING IN OUR VETTING. SAME IN THE CASE OF AGYARKO. THE MINORITY, I SHOULD SAY , IS NOT HELPING GHANA AT ALL.
Who cares? Minority remains minority. This brings to fore the Ayariga bribery allegation, Why will someone with the majority come to bribe the minority for support. NDC, go to hell.
The truth hurts when the belly is full of lies. Former president Mahama told his northern brothers and sister to vote for him and they did but what did they get in return, nothing period except the Guinea fowls that we were told fled to Bukina under SADA
Running away from the truth. I love this brave woman. Mahama indeed deserves those comment and no one will worship him or fail to criticize him for his gigatuan failures and corruption. call a spade a spade and I am glad we have majority to approve her.
With this you're are exposing how Boakye Agyarko's alleged bribe is totally unnecessary, because the majority doesn't need you to approve Otiko! If it were the case that you had the majority instead of the NPP everybody would understand how the npp would facilitate bribes to be given so their candidate sails through! What will you tell your clueless supporters now? Onaaaaapo!
The minority are fuuls. What did they say when Mahama then president insulted the same parliament they are members of. Whether they like it or not Otiko will be a minister. Ahi should go to hell
