The Member of Parliament for Bodi constituency and a member of the Appointments Committee in Parliament, Sampson Ahi says the Minority has rejected the Minister-designate of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba for recommendation to the plenary.
“There is a general consensus for us in the Minority not to support Otiko because of her posturing before the committee and her response to some questions that were asked her during vetting yesterday. Off-course her approval will be by the majority when it comes to the floor for consideration,” Mr. Ahi told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Wednesday.
The MP said they will register their position for the public to know why the nominee was rejected by the minority members on the committee.
Gender Minister-designate Otiko Afisa Djaba who faced the vetting committee yesterday was in the news for several controversial issues that popped up at vetting Tuesday.
Her refusal to apologise to former President John Dramani Mahama for some “distasteful” comment she made against her prior to the 2016 election is undoubtedly one of the topical issues that might have dimmed her chances to be supported by the NDC minority side on the committee.
She’s reported to have upheld her earlier comments that Mr. John Mahama was “Wicked” and an “embarrassment” due to his inability to develop the three Northern country where he comes from.

I WAS HAPPY WHEN AFISA DJABA REFUSE TO APOLOGIZE TO MAHAMA B'COS YOU APOLOGIZE TO SOMETHING YOU HAVE DONE WRONGLY. ALL SHE SAID ABOUT MAHAMA WAS TRUE NOT POLITICAL TALK.
Only Ghana will this guy can be a minister
Honourable, there's a popular saying that if u dont have anything good to say, you better keep quiet. It's a shame you dont want to admit that Otiko carried the day. You guys aint seen nothing yet. Keep dreaming, Hon Otiko is in town!
This 'kind' of reasoning can only come from NDC. That is their 'stock in trade'; bootlickers are rewarded over capabilities. Please 'OMNI'and you get whatever you want. It does not matter how many 'oxen' are gored.('National Disaster Company')indeed
