Former president JJ Rawlings has once again declared his confidence in President Akufo-Addo to deliver.
He said the former Foreign Minister has “certain principles and values” which could help in the fight against corruption.
“We are very fortunate also that somebody like Nana Akufo-Addo has emerged over here. People think I love that man to high heavens. No. But I respect him for certain principles and values,” Rawlings, who served Ghana for about two decades, said when a group of movie actors paid a courtesy call on him at his Ridge residence.
“I will continue to pray and sincerely hope that he will devote possibly even 30 percent of his time, 70 percent for the development and project etc. but at least 25 to 30 percent he would probably need more than that to fight corruption and corruptible tendencies,” the former military leader opined. Nana Akufo-Addo, who won the December 2016 elections after a third attempt, assumed office in January 2017 as Ghana’s 5th president under the Fourth Republic.
He beat former president John Dramani Mahama in a historic poll which gave him a comfortable majority in Parliament.

The former president talked rubbish. He came and started killing. His wife sold Nsawam cane factory what about the Jewell shop the wife opened at Swiszaland where is lt col Chikata. How did his house catch fire but his personal belongings didn't burn
where is Kofi Gyimah, we need to roll him in asap
well said Ntim, gradually people would see JJ as it is, a plain conman. people suffered during his infantile revolutionary Govt, people were sacked from work(for being PDC & WDC members), some were maimed, some died and it is only an NDC Govt who would be minded to take care of all those people and their relatives and its also same NDC Govt that he used every trick in the books to undermine them to lose power. For fear of NPP unleashing the invincible forces on him see what he is saying now. I even respect the wife Konadu, cos she left the party and campaigned against the NDC party, but JJ remains in the party and destroys the party from within for whatever reasons. this is not what a founder does to his own party. Even in opposition JJ is still using every subtle way to continue undermining the NDC.
This guy thinks he's smart. Doing all these to ensure he and his wife enjoy their booty. Do you respect a man who withdrew your privileges in 2001? Why were you making noise at that time if you really had confidence and agreed to what he did to you? At a stage, you didn't even want to refer to him by name and roundly referred to him as "That Short Man". Posterity and your conscience will judge. I pity those who supported and toiled for him to rule. History will be our judges.
Master think well before talking, NDC's are being harrased in what way? so u expect the state properties to be left with the NDC guys or what, nana is here to fight corruption and he will surely do that so stop the thrush, JJ trust Nana on that so dont tell us cos he is their founder he should support all the corruption that is going on in the party. No more create loot and share business again, Ghana is going forward
Massa; what a load of garbage and toxic flatulence ; JJ Rawlings is like every Ghanaian a private person besides the deluded idea that JJ Rawlings founded the NDC is just not correct ; the NDC was founded by a group of persons including ; Kodzo Tsikata; Fui Tsikata ;TSATSU TSIKATA ; PV Obeng ; Awonnor Williams ; Tsatsu Tsikata ; the Ahwoi brothers ; Kwesi Botchway ; TO>>>TOBI kwakye; Asiedu Nketia etc etc ; JJ rawlings was told told about the formation and the ayigbe/ewe mafia decided to elect JJ Rawlings as the founder ; the man has never had any real feeling for the party and therefore can express his opinions just as everybody ; the fact is that the NDC party was founded on DECEIT ; LIES AND STILLING ; PARTY HAS NO IDEOLOGY : WHAT WHAT ARE THE LONG TERM POLITICAL AIM OF THE NDC PARTY because elements are just failures ; non experience opportunists and fraudesters in particular ewe people ; today the NDC party has been exposed big time by the NPP !!!!!!because they all the election they claim to have won with the help of JJ Rawlings was based on FRAUD !!!!!!!; everybody knows the NDC party is a stillers party besides name me one person includin JJ Rawlings or Jon MAhama who can face Ghanaians and say they are honest ; at least we know Nana Addo can sy he is not corrupt ; JJ Rawlings has seen the light and believes Nana ADdo is Ghanas last hope because Nana Addo is from the old school of honesty and will not dissipate or still public funds ; today what do we see and hear NDC party members sharing state cars ; how can Kofi Adams withing 4 years purchase fice high value cars ; this ia man who was a teacher and secretary to JJ Rawlings ; so how can the man suddenly become so rich ; this is NDC for you !!!!!!!
eish papa JJ. How do u respect a person without loving him? Asemmm ooo
Folks, what do you expect from the traitor conman founder of the NDC. NDC supporters are being harassed, cars being seized from them left right and centre, one would have thought that he would ask for a more humane and legal way of undertaking that exercise, but no. Check the contrast, JJ wants Nana Addo to spent 30% of time fighting corruption but wanted Mills to use 100% of his time on a state sponsored vendetta against the NPP in 2009 and when Mills refused, all hell broke lose and insults were rained on him by this same founder. JJ knows that he dare not treat Nana Addo like Kuffour. I bet that this founder of NDC shall continue undermining them even in opposition because everything he has said after the elections points to that.
I just like this man in his old age, he says it as it is now. he respect President Nana Addo and will pray for him to do well as the president of Ghana.
