Nana Ofori Owusu, PPP Communicator, has condemned the xenophobic attacks on immigrants in South Africa.
Earlier this week, angry mob reportedly attacked Nigerians and looted shops belonging to Pakistanis, Somalis and other immigrants around Pretoria and parts of Johannesburg.
The indigenes are said to have carried out the xenophobic attacks on basis that the immigrants have taken over their businesses.
Addressing the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana Ofori Owusu called on Africans to support their fellow Blacks and not cause any hostilities between them.
According to him, though he may understand the plight of the South Africans, their resort to attacks is not the best solution to the issue.
He noted that the locals should equally know that the immigrants are there to earn a living and instead of antagonizing them, they should rather live in harmony with them.
“The African must be one always. Black on black, African to African; we must at all times have the mindset that we’re one and when the spirit of oneness comes, we can solve everything . . . Africans should have a common mind and unite to solve our problems. We’ll have challenges as people, as African race; as African people but we must solve those challenges.”
Nana Ofori also advised the African Union and the affected countries not to take a revenge on the South Africans, saying "let's not create a condition of us versus them. We're one" but find a better way to let peace reign among the people.

The Africa Umoja must be stopped from performing in Ghana no matter how dear they are to some people in the country. It is about time South Africa is isolated for her to learn to be grateful. If there are people they suspect of dealing in drugs they must be targeted not the innocent once. Their music is full of lamentations that is why we seem to enjoy them after all we shared their sufferings under apartheid.
I have heard many comments about what is happening in RSA but non has talked about what is realy happening because of "Political Correctness". The truth is that, the nationals of a certain West African country in RSA are into Drug Pushing. If you meet an average national of that country, every 9 out of 10 of them are pushing drugs. When they befriend the South African girls and introduce them to drugs and make them addicts, they now ask them to push for them or become prostitutes to be able to keep buying their next shot. They have also corrupted the police and politicians and constantly evade arrests. They also flaunt their wealth and power arrogantly to the annoyance of the South African citizens until they take matters into their own hands. They know very well that the average Ghanaian in SA is hard working, descent and respectful but have been enveloped into the foreigners menace. Therefore the solution to these problems is more complex than meets the eye.
