A former Deputy Minister in the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Joseph Yamin has predicted government’s flagship policy of free Senior High School (SHS) will collapse by next academic term.
According to him, the inability of the government to pay feeding grants of boarding students in public second cycle institutions across the country indicates the policy cannot be sustained and was introduced for political gain.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM , the former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports stated the Akufo-Addo led government did not make enough preparation before the program was implemented.
“If you look at the challenges now, nobody should tell you that the government did not prepare for the implementation”, the former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister told host Kwame Adinkra.
“I have my doubt schools will close and reopen without seeing the challenges we are seeing currently”, the aspiring NDC Ashanti Regional chairperson said.
The free SHS policy which was major campaign tool of the current government in 2012 an 2016 respectively, was rolled out in September this year with over 400, 000 beneficiaries.
It has however been characterized by challenges ranging from the unavailability of accommodation, furniture, poor feeding to lack of basic amenities at the implementing institutions.
Some members of the current government including Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffuor, have called on government to take pragmatic steps in addressing challenges the programme is saddled with citing his experience during a visit to one of the schools
“Like school feeding and all that. I once visited a school and witnessed it; there was this young lady I met. At the time, I noticed, she has eating all her food, licked her plate leaving no grain. She didn’t eat her egg on the food either. As I stood to see what see what she was going to do with it, she put her egg in the mouth and brought it out again and put it in her pocket. So I went to her and said, ‘you didn’t eat your egg’. And the reply she gave me was, that is my dinner. At that moment, I wept, ”he said

Hei, this is how this NDC guys behave. When your NDC President had free education even though his father could have afforded it, it was okay. Now that it has been rolled countrywide look at what that BOY is saying. For your information, my only daughter got admitted to Wesley Girls in Cape Coast for free this year which ordinarily I couldn't have paid the astronomical fees. What are you talking about. Prophets of DOOM!! fire burn you.
It will collapse on the head of NDC ***barred word***'s who OFFERED nothing better to Ghanaians IN THE 8 YEARS STEALING SPREE. Yamin because you have no brains you could neither work as ashanti regional deputy minister and deputy educational minister. yOU STOLE MONEY AS DEPUTY EDUCATION MINISTER. I am not sure of this mans nationality. You will all face the special prosecutor.
It is rather you, who will collapse.
Ghanaians are listening to you so don't come back during election time and change what you are saying today. Like you did during the passage of the NHIS when your MPs worked out of the debate. You then turned around and told Ghanaians that Kuffour is cheating Ghanaians and that you make it one time premium which never came to pass. Am sure in 2020 your propagandists will come out that you will do free up to PHD level just to deceive Ghanaians to vote for you. I am telling you this time round that it will work. You had money to pay dubious Judgement debts but you could not have money to fulfil the one term premium.
You'll stay in opposition for long, that's where 1d10T5 like you belong
They only care about winning elections but not doing anything for Ghanaians...ndc is just diabolic and they do things Satan himself can't do !!!
It must mean something to be a Ghanaian. If free secondary education is what Ghana can offer let us embrace it even if it means spending all our money on it. As for the naysayers let them continue to observe.
That is your wish my good friend Yamin and so are all NDC supporters. But in the name and the power of God, it shall never happen. Free SHS is a good thing for Ghana. It has helped nations in advanced world to develop. We need it as well to develop Third world nation like Ghana. If we really want to do politics to build the nation and not for selfishness and corruption free SHS is the way to go.
NDC does not and is not in favor of EDUCATED Ghananians! A vote for NDC is a vote against FREE SHS!
Yamin is the type that school went through him, he went to school but did not learn any sensible thing. It beats my imagination that he went to Prempeh College. The 'Suban ne Nimdee' that Prempeh College has he did not acquire that. What a waste of brains.
