The Volta Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that the region needs projects that will enhance its socio-economic development, “not frequent visits from the President.
"The party said the President had demonstrated in his recent visits to the region that he had nothing to show in terms of development for the people of the region.
A statement signed and issued by the Volta Regional Communications Officer of the party, Mr Kafui Agbeleze said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on several platforms promised to develop the region.
“However, there are no concrete indications pointing to the fulfilment of those promises," it said.
2019 SONA
It said during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in 2019, the President said a consortium of local banks had raised $51 million to fund the completion of the housing units started by former President J. A. Kufuor’s administration in 2006 in Koforidua, Tamale and in Ho.
It, however, said there were no housing projects “anywhere in and around Ho" and not even a “dime" of the $51 million raised by the consortium of banks as stated by the President came to Volta Region for any housing project.
Keta Port
The statement said the President in 2018 signed an Executive Instrument to commence the construction of a seaport at Keta and subsequently appointed Dr Alexander Adusei Jnr as Director of “the yet-to-be constructed Keta Port, a situation that had caused many to express misgivings about the project."
It alleged that though the project had not started, Dr Adusei Jnr continued to draw salary for no work done, asking, “why should the nation continue to pay Dr Adusei Jnr when all he could show of the port project is a small billboard with the inscription, 'Site for the Keta Port'."
It said the President himself had not shown much commitment towards the project as there was no financial commitment on the side of the government in the 2019 budget towards it, and “interesting too, there was no mention of the Keta Port in the 2020 budget either."
Job losses
The statement said many young people in the region also lost their jobs as a result of the government's approach to the banking sector clean-up and the closure of nine radio stations.
“We want to also assure the President that he is at liberty to frequently visit the region as he so wishes, however, those visits will be meaningless if it does not translate into tangible development of the region," it stated.

Thanks to Kpodo, Yaw, and co. You've said all. 4 more 4 Nana to do more
These TROKOSI NDC boys have their heads upside down on their shoulders. JJ Rawlings the founder of NDC had ruled Ghana for 19 years and after that 8 more years by Mills/Mahama and Mahama/Arthur making a total of 27 years. What projects did the NDC bring to the VOLTA REGION? The White Elephant airdrome? Deal with yourselves for blindly voting for NDC all these years. If Mahama truly value the VR as the World Bank of the NDC, he would have begun his SPEAKOUT from the VR/
it is only a ***barred word*** who allows his testicles to be stepped on twice......but the ndc has stepped on the testicles of voltarians many times...so please comments readers add the conclusion...hmmm
The World Bank of the NDC, the great Volta Region is bankrupt of development, though NDC had ruled Ghana longer than any political party in Ghana. What should I say here? I think I can only say: a word to the wise is enough. And the Voltarians are wise folks.
heei shat up absurb when did u lost just recently then what did u than there ***barred word*** 2020 we shall welcome u during campaign time hooooooo dirty croooks
P/NDC have been in power for 19 + 8 years. What specific projects did you do for the Volta Region? If you were constructing one major road every two years, all the roads in the region would have been competed by now. NDC has no moral right to talk about the Volta Region. The problem is with my own people who are so tied to these croooo0ks that they can't decide to abandon them. Left to me alone, I would say every Voltarian should just decide to abandon NDC to tell them that we are not f00oools. It is this same NDC that are behind the Western Togoland secession problem. With a new register, no Togolese will be allowed to vote in Ghana, and then we shall see the real level of NDC support in Ghana.
What happened to the Mahama airport at Ho? Has any aeroplane landed there before?
***barred word***, when u were in power apart, from doing nothing for the region that votes 90% for u, u didn't visit cos u didn't v to, u will get the votes anyway
When you were in power for 8yrs tell me on policy Ndc implemented to safe the life of Volta people. Talk is cheap
P(NDC) was in power for 27 years and you guys were voting blindly for them. Tell me one factory that the party you have been voting for established in the Volta Region. Shu.ttt uppp and enjoy your opposition. Advise your people to stop voting 90% for the P(NDC).
