Dr. Benjamin Okyere Ankrah, a lecturer of the Central University in Accra, says the Members of Ghana's Parliament must bow their heads in shame over their dishonorable conduct on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

The 7th Parliament was dissolved to usher in the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic on Thursday.

The Members of the Legislative House were sworn in and a new Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin was elected.

But these activities didn't happen peacefully in the House as there was a fierce clash between the Majority and Minority in Parliament.

Some MPs were captured kicking ballot boxes and booths and fighting among themselves.

Notable among the MPs were the Tema West MP, Carlos Ahenkorah who was seen stealing and attempting to bolt away with ballot papers, John Jinapor, MP for Yapei Kusawgu, who was also kicking ballot boxes after tumbling one of Parliament's security personnel straight to the ground and Hon. Mubarak Muntaka, Asawase MP, who chased after Carlos Ahenkorah to fist him.

Ablekuma West MP, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was also seen sitting on the laps of Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Juaboso MP and other MPs like Sam George of Ningo-Prampram and many others were all seen misconducting themselves.

The House was indeed characterized by violence in absolute defiance of Parliamentary conduct.

Reacting to the issue on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Dr. Benjamin Okyere Ankrah decried the misbehavior of the MPs stressing they disgraced Ghana.

He questioned the integrity of the MPs to merit the tag ''Honorable'' saying their behavior ''was a disgrace. Those who conducted themselves wouldn't reach 20 percent. The lot of them were just misbehaving. They must bow their heads in shame...At a point, the MPs were unruly, then rowdy...People simply misconducted themselves...It's not good. It disgraced the nation. They must bow their heads in shame!''
