The Head of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, Legon, Professor Kofi Agyekum has said what matters most is the intelligence and competence of Lawyer Kissi Agyabeng for the Special Prosecutor position but not his age.
The 45-year-old has been nominated by the Attorney General to take the position of Special Prosecutor.
However, critics including former Member of Parliament(MP) for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini says Mr Agyabeng is too young for the position.
“Did the President search well enough and not found a worthy replacement for Martin Amidu other than Kissi Agyebeng? Why did the President settle on Agyabeng, when Agyabeng after seven years will be around 50 years?” the former MP asked.
Reacting to this during a panel discussion on Peace FM's Morning show 'Kokrokoo', Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly known as Opanyin Ayekum, Head of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, Legon queried: "what else do you want"
" . . this job is not an easy one; these same Ghanaians complained that the President was appointing people who are supposed to be on pension and now he's decided to appoint young ones; that too . . . but the most important thing is how knowledgeable he is."

Amazing how some people criticize. When the aged was appointed it was improper, when the middle age is appointed you want to undermine with nothing but age, aaba. How old is French President, Moron? The spirit of oppositionby some are simply unthinkable. So, in opposition you must at all cost oppose without any consideration or justification or benefit of doubt or worse of it assess the person appointed? Its sometimes very painful when all that some persons can do is to oppose everything gearing towards the benefit of the nation and in a minute we turn round and accuse those in charge. When we didn't consider how they're to get to the end. WHO'S DISTURBING THE NATION?
Paa Mills you are pefertly right God bless you.
In 2009 the then minister of communication Haruna Iddrisu was in his late thirties I think. Right? I think he did pretty well.
Interestingly , Hapuna the minority leader was appointed minister of employment in 2014 at the age of 44. Hmmm
Opanyin if you look at characters complaining of the nominee 's age their enthic background it appears all of them coming from the North why? The Complainants are as follows 1 Hurana Iddrusi 2 Fuseni WHY WHY WHY . The first occupancy of the position was from North and act of arrogance he decided to resigned so what again . Is the constitution flown upon age? The same Northern took Amidu to court of his age and same crop of guys still complaining .Let me ask is Ghana for them or they are only group with law credentials. Those characters are the reason NDC lost with arrogance if not them nobody should have it silly
