Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has debunked claims he endorsed Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as an aspiring candidate in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership race.
"The attention of the Office of Former President John Kufuor has been drawn to an erroneous reportage in some sections of the media, especially on social media to the effect that President Kufuor has endorsed an aspiring candidate for the NPP flagbearership over several others who have expressed interest to contest in the race.
This office wants to emphatically deny that any such endorsement took place on the said occasion and bemoans the fact that what transpired has been seriously misconstrued" a statement signed by Senior Aide and Spokesman Dr Kwabena Osei-Adubofour said.

I doubted same when i first read the news. Even though i wish Bawumia well in his political enterprise, knowing who Kufuor is even if his choice is Bawumia he won't endorse him in the open. Kufour stands tall among his peers in the global arena. He knows when to speak, what to say and how to say it, undoubtedly the most successful president in Ghana's fourth republic. National health insurance, school feeding program, capitation grant, free mass cocoa spraying exercise, metro mass transport, millennium challenge account ( N1 highway), Youth employment program, micro finance and small loans centre, 2 brand new stadia in Tamale and Takoradi, free maternity care for pregnant women, brand new office for the presidency i.e. Jubilee house, Bui Dam, international appeal, Angela Merkel, George ***barred word***, Jacques Chirac, Shinzo Abe, Tony Blair and African giant Olusegun Obasinjo. I keep asking whether Opana didn't learn anything from his master having been a cabinet minister in kufour's government. John mahama's 2 grandfathers are dead, Rawlings and Atta Mills. Opana's grandfather is still alive and moving on. Unfortunately empty pride will not allow Opana to get close and learn some wisdom lessons thus the current predicament of Umofians.
