Angry residents of Suame pelted sachet water on their Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu when he visited the area, Monday, July 18, 2022.
The MP visited the Constituency to inspect the progress of work on various development projects.
His vehicle was also pelted with sachet water and other items such as coconut husk. It took the timely intervention of the Police to whisk him to safety.
Speaking to this, a member of the Communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said the incident should be a "wakeup" call for the Majority Leader.
According to him, the workload on the MP is so much that he would need to delegate for others to help especially in his constituency to avoid losing his seat.
"There's too much work on the majority leader . . . the pelting of pure water should be a wake-up call for him . . . we know his work in parliament is unmatched . . . apart from Bagbin there's no one; so he's a gem, an asset in parliament for the NPP, but before you become that asset unless your constituents vote for you, and so with the least mistake and they vote against him, it will be bad for the NPP. So it should be a wake-up call for him. His responsibility is big so he can delegate or assign others to help him," he said in a discussion on Neat FM's 'Me Man Nti' programme.

Masa, it's not a wake up call to him alone, it applies to all so called politicians, people leave their homes as early as 4:00 am to go and queue for hours to vote for you. A few months after the elections your lives change for the better while the people who made you want you are wallow in poverty. Presidential and parliamentary elections are not by force in Ghana, nobody begged anyone to stand for elections, you willingly offered yourself for elections with a promise to come in and improve their socio-economic wellbeing. If you fail to deliver sachet water will send you away. Ghana's so called politicians have taken the people for granted for far too long.Enough of the ***barred word***. If you know you can't deliver don't come to us for our votes. If you come to us , you must deliver, failure of which sachet water will follow. In 2024 sachets water will be in high demand. But for politics how many politicians will ever get what they are getting, you think the people can't see or hear what's happening? We voted for you to become president, Vice President, minister, deputy, MMDCEs and CEO's, no politician in Ghana voted for any Ghanaian to qualify to be a voter. Once you are a Ghanaian of sound mind, 18 years and above and a registered voter you are done. No body has the power to prevent anyone from voting if you meet these requirements. If MP, president, minister, MMDCE or CEO were by an examination , how many of you will be occupying these positions ? Suame incident was the group stage, the knock out stage is in 2024. We won't come to you, don't also come to us. It's that simple. If two vehicles don't come near each other there won't crash. Period
