Peacefmonline.com can authoritatively confirm that the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon Sarah Adwoa Safo has been dismissed with immediate effect by President Akufo-Addo.
A statement issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, said the President acted in accordance with article 81 (a) of the constitution.
Family Issues
The dismissed minister, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, has been absent from Parliament for several months and also shirked her ministerial duties.
She claims her long absence is because of a family issue; medical attention she is giving to her child.
The statement dated 28th July, 2022 from the Presidency read; "In accordance with Article 81 (a) of the Constitution, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has revoked the appointment of Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, with immediate effect."
No More Tik Tok?
The Dome-Kwabenya MP, who has a penchant for viral video recordings of her emotional state, interestingly deleted all her Tik Tok posts on Monday, and also had her account completely deactivated.
Earlier this year, outspoken NPP MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, hinted that Adwoa Safo may have lost interest in remaining a Minister after her failed attempt to sack Mrs Gertrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the School Feeding Program.
Privileges Committee....Recommends
However, she was summoned by the Privileges Committee of Parliament to answer for her misconduct but all efforts to reach her, even via Zoom, proved futile since she refused to honor the invitation.
The Privileges Committee subsequently recommended that Adwoa Safo’s seat be declared vacant due to her absenteeism from the house.
Parliament was thus expected to take a decision on her status as MP on Thursday, but the Speaker, Rt. Hon Alban S.K. Bagbin, stalled in making a ruling till the House resumes sitting, saying the issue is not one that needs to be taken in a haste.
Bagbin Stalls
Addressing members before the House rose, the Speaker said;
“Honourable Members, I have consulted the old lady, the old lady has given me an advise and I think that advise is correct. The issue raised by the Majority Leader is both of substantive and procedural law.
I need time to submit to this house a reasoned, written ruling. I cannot in a haste of today, give you the ruling. In the circumstance, I will urge this House for us to call it a day”, he said.
More soon.....

Was long overdue..... Anyway, better late than never.
I think the decision to release her of duties as a minister was long overdue. She looks like someone who lacks emotional intelligence, an attribute any public servant should have. I understand she may be attending to the medical needs of her son but then to be rubbing it in the face of the public with those tiktok videos shows lack of maturity. It is one thing attending to the needs of your child . Then another playing baloney on social media. Be sensitive to the sensibilities of the public at least. This is what happens if too much is given to immature people in life who have not sweated that much. From the comfort of her industrious father's house, she landed in the arms of rich Kennedy Agyepong then from there she finds herself in the fame arena of politics holding prestigious positions in government. Her attitude shows that of a spoilt brat that must not be tolerated. It has nothing to do with gender. Simply a spoilt brat.
THIS IS ENOUGH TIME FOR ONE TO BE GONE FROM HER EMPLOYERS WITOUT ANY SERIOUS REASON FOR NOT BEING DISMISSED FROM HER JOB. LONG OVERDUE. ENOUGH OF THE NONENSE. THERE IS OVER A MILLION PEOPLE DIED FROM COVID19 IN THE USA SO THERE IS ENOUGH WORK TO GO AROUND FOR HER TO GET ONE IN THE USA NOT TO COME TO GHANA TRUST ME.
If there is anything surprising about her dismissal, then it is the long time it took the President to sack this lady from the Government. Her arrogance and flippant behaviour has been most disgusting. Parliament should also declare her seat vaccant - and that is what it is - and I pray NPP retains it.
