Ghanas international reggae musician Blakk Rasta, has launched his eighth studio album, Ancestral Moonsplash, an 18-track album.
The event, which took place at the La Palm Beach Reort Saturday night started with Blakks Herbalist band coming on stage and welcoming the main artiste to the fore to dish out tunes from his wide repertoire.
Blakk appeared in all-white attire, treating the patrons to exciting, energetic reggae music before he took a break to allow MCs SedemOfori (Joy FM) and Gifty Anti (GTV) to officially welcome the all VIP guest including ministers of state Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Murtala Mohammed, Dr. Henry Danaa and John Jinapor.
Others guests included Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Kofi Tsikata of the World Bank (Ghana), Bice Osei Kuffour (MUSIGA President) amongst others who supported the album launch.
After the launch Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa said he loved the album and expressed hope it would become a hit. Many were surprised he attended the event considering how he and the artiste bantered angrily a few months back on the latters radio show TAXI DRIVER on HITZ FM 103.9. It bordered on the issue of the late Atta Mills health which Blakk Rasta felt was not being handled well.
Kwesi Pratt was beyond himself with joy as he described Blakk Rasta as an unusual personality. Blakk Rasta is not just a musician but an unusual personality. At a time when reggae music has been reduced to nothing but noise, the young man is still making sense, he said amidst cheers from the crowd.
Ancestral Moonsplash is a magnificent African reggae piece which Blakk Rasta believes is the way forward. It was recorded after a long period of research by Zapp Mallet, Blakk, Korkor Amarteifio and the late Professor of music, Prof. Amoako.
The album has some heavy African percussion and dances fused into reggae music. It is a delightful 18-track album and undoubtedly Blakk Rastas best so far
