Yes, the news that defunct music group, Wutah will come together to perform at the Rhythms On Da Runway show on Saturday, April 1 is true.

But the news that the duo is coming back as a group for good is not true. There are no plans for a permanent come back.

This was revealed by Wutah Afriyie, one half of the pair when he spoke with Showbiz on Tuesday at Gbawe in Accra.

“Saturday’s performance at the Banquet Hall of the State House is a one-off event and there are currently no plans in place for a permanent reunification of the group”, he said.

Wutah went their separate ways over six years ago and it has been the hope of many that the group which hit Ghanaians with some good songs would come back together but it seems that might not happen.

“Only time will tell if there will be any permanent projects from the two of us”, said Wutah Afriyie, who is working on a number of solo projects.

Speaking about whether the duo will only be performing a repertoire of the old classics or might release a surprise collaboration, Afriyie asked fans to keep their fingers crossed.

“I will leave that for patrons at the venue to find out. If I tell you everything, I will be giving away the element of surprise. However be rest assured that there is definitely going to be a surprise for fans on that day,” he said.

He assured fans that despite the duo not performing together over six years, they still had the same zeal which has only gotten better with age.

“People will really love to see us perform together and it will be something worth their time and money. With music, unlike other professions, the older you get the wiser you become.

“Fans should expect a lot of energy from us at the event. It has been about seven years since they last saw us together but I can assure them that the passion and spirit has just gotten better over time,” he added.

Wutah was reggae/hiplife duo made up of Wutah Kobby and Wutah Afriyie. The two came into the limelight when they placed second to Praye during the maiden edition of the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra.

The two broke many people’s hearts when they announced their split some seven years ago. Some songs the group is known for include Kotosa, Big Dreams, Burning Desire, Adonko, Gossy Gander among a host of others.
