Now it has come to the clinch; actor John Dumelo’s word against that of US-based actress, Harrina Dembele over whether the two are married or not. While Dumelo says “we’re not married”, Harrina insists “we are!”
On Peace FM’s Entertainment Review programme last Thursday, Dumelo told host Kwasi Aboagye that he was not, and had never been married to Harrina. Dumelo put out a challenge to his supposed wife to produce a single picture that the two had taken to prove that they had ever dated not mention being married.
That challenge certainly looked rather weak considering that Harrina had presented a copy of a supposed marriage certificate on the Internet to boost her argument that indeed she was married to Dumelo. But Dumelo has insisted that the certificate was fake and was meant only as a prop in a Dumelo movie documentary.
Last Thursday’s interview did little to explain a palaver that has been simmering in showbiz circles for the past couple of weeks.
After the release of John Dumelo’s marriage certificate on the Internet, Harrina initially denied ever being married to Dumelo but she later changed her position and said she is indeed his wife.
All along, Dumelo has denied the allegation. “I am not married, it’s all for my documentary movie I’m doing for my J.Melo Clothing line. The day will come when I will actually get married”, he told Peacefmonline.com.
Asked if he has heard or read comments from his supposed wife Harrina Dembele who has admitted on social media that she is indeed married to him, John said “Yes I have. People always say bad things about me or false things just to be popular for a week or two.
“Last two years, they said I was getting married to one actress, last year they said I was married with two kids. I’m sure in two years, they will say I’m the newest grandfather in town”, he had said.
As to whether he had confronted the lady who, according him, is making false claims against his personality, this is what Dumelo had to say, “I don’t have time for any confrontation. I’m busy working on my clothing line to go global as well as my other businesses”.
Meanwhile a flurry of comments on social media continue to debate whether there had ever been a marriage or not.
