The Ghana music scene was shaken by a recent prophecy from award winning hip-life artiste turned Evangelist, Lord Kenya alluding that Okyeame Kwame, Shatta Wale, Obour and Dr. Cryme will soon be called by God to propel His work.

Lord Kenya who spoke on Kasapa FM’s Aben Wo Ha last Monday said God has the tendency to use people who are exposed to things of the world to transform lives positively in the society.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shatta Wale, Okyeame Kwame, Obour and Dr. Cryme doing the will of God because I have that feeling within. As a matter of fact, God uses total strangers to change lives of others so I strongly believe God will use them as well just as He is using me” he was quoted as saying.

In his response as he was speaking to Lexis Bill at Joy FM’s Mega Shopping Experience programme held at the Accra Mall, the Rap Dacta, Okyeame Kwame said he believes God has already called him and that he is already doing the will of God. ‘’Two and a half years ago when I met Lord Kenya at the airport, I told him I was already changed and maybe he was new so I welcomed him to Christ’’ he said.

Okyeame Kwame who was sharing some insights into what doing the will of God means said ‘’being called by God does not necessarily mean singing gospel songs. Every positive thing one does on this earth extends God’s work. So once the show organizer, musician and poet do their work in a positive manner, they are doing God’s will.’’

He went on to say that, circular music has so many social factors that could be inured to the benefit of the country. According to him, music trends is a good tool to trap the national psyche alluding that melancholic songs done in the 50s depict the mood of those who lived during those periods.

But popular music now depicts the change in attitudes of Ghanaians as more people are beginning to inspire themselves and also connect to the world. Academically, he explained that most contemporary music genres have lot of interesting subjects that could be taught in areas of marketing, psychology and other social science disciplines and students could use them for social research.

In its commercial value, the Rap Dacta maintained that circular artistes are setting trends in pushing fashion, media, businesses, and events and companies use these events to push their brands. The last of the factors he mentioned was employment; where the artistes occupy themselves with the trade of doing music. They also employ publicists, managers, retailers, and distributors just to mention but a few.

Okyeame Kwame appreciated the diversity (gospel and circular) in today’s music industry claiming it is all good for the spiritual and social development of the people. However, the most important thing is to live a positive life as by that measure we can say one is doing the will of God.

‘’Remember Mathew 7:21 says not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.’’ He was quoted as saying.
