Congregants at Westminster Cathedral have called for the resident priest to clarify how Prime Minister Boris Johnson was able to remarry in a Catholic church.
The Prime Minister married his fiancee Carrie Symonds in a private ceremony at cathedral on Saturday.
The wedding ceremony was carried out by Father Daniel Humphreys, who had given the couple pre-marriage instructions, and baptised their son Wilfred, one, last year, The Sun newspaper reported.
On Sunday church-goers expressed concern and called for clarification about how the ceremony was allowed to go ahead as Catholic canon law does not allow re-marriage of a divorcee whose former spouse is still alive.
