The Tema Municipality will come alive this weekend as the Y FM entertainment crew hits the ‘small London’ with the second edition of its coveted event, the Y FM Area Codes Jam.
The YFM Area Codes Jam is a quarterly musical concert organized by Ghana’s urban radio station Y FM for any area that comes tops in a keenly contested competition held for all listeners of the station.
Venue for the event is normally determined by listeners across the city. Listeners are required to text to the short code 1406 on all telecommunication networks indicating their area of choice with acronyms such as DC for Dansoman, TM for Tema, TN for Teshie Nungua and DZ for Dzorwulu etc.
The Area Codes Jam is then held at the location that emerges as the top area of choice by listeners through text message votes. The Jam is usually held on a busy street of the Sponsored by MTN, Kick Energy Drink, Safina Water and Spendstre Fotostore, the event is held to appreciate and celebrate all loyal listeners and fans of the station for the young and young at heart.
This quarter’s is the second edition and it is slated for Ghana’s industrial hub, Tema on the 4th of June at the Community 7 Number 2 JHS park popularly known as ‘Chemu Park’.
Y-FM’s Events Director, Sammy Forson says ‘this quarter’s event has in stock several mind blowing activities that will just spice up your weekend.
We are inviting the whole of Accra to the centre of the world to come party with our fans in Tema and with us’. The Y FM hit squad and the DJs including Nokus, Jay Foley, Jeremy, Caroline, DJ Kess, DJ Phaya, DJ Flexi, Papa Sly, DJ Killer Fingers, among others will take turns in setting the stage on fire with thrilling musical stunts and stagecraft.
This quarter’s street jam promises to turn the Tema Municipality upside down and will bring all activities to a halt with the whole Y FM entertainment crew including its finest DJs, presenters and some of Ghana’s finest and most sought after musicians like Okyeame Kwame, VIP, Scientific, Ruff n Smooth, Mimi, Atumpan, Zigi, R2Bees, Nana Boro, Kwaw Kesse and others artistes are expected to treat the audience with ecstatic performances.
In addition to great performances by these artistes, the occasion will provide a unique opportunity for interaction, photo sessions with celebrities and networking. The audience will further be engaged through other exciting activities such as singing and dancing competition.
The street jam will end with an after party at the Barcadis Night Club to be hosted by Y FM Presenters and DJs. The Y 107.9 FM Area Codes Jam is another innovation by Y FM and it is powered by the Y FM Entertainment team.
