Okay FMs Drivetime Host, the ever-vivacious Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana has once chalked another feat.
He has been honoured with the Excellence In Media Leadership award in recognition of his exceptional accomplishment as a Broadcast Journalist and Radio presenter par excellence by Global Leadership Training (GLT), USA.
A citation signed by the Founder and President of GLT, Rev. Gregg T. Johnson and the Executive Coordinator, Rev. David Arena, lauded Abeiku Santana for the humanitarian services he offers in various communities through feeding the poor and seeking support for the needy.
18 other dignitaries and two institutions were also honoured for their various roles in ensuring leadership in the West African sub-region. The awardees were given citations and plaques in honour of their exceptional leadership skills in their field of activity, at a colorful ceremony held during the opening service of the 7th More than Leadership Conference, in Accra.
They include Her Ladyship, Justice Mrs. Georgina Wood for Significant Achievement, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, Rev Fred Deegbe, Rev Dr Paul Dsane and Rev Dr Steve Asante were conferred with the Global Award for Apostolic/Pastoral Excellence; the Global Excellence Award for Statesmanship went to Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea and Dr. Edward Mahama.
Lawyer Amegatcher and Vitus Azeem were honoured with the Global Excellence Award for Integrity in Leadership; Mrs Akwafo, Jude Hama and Apostle Washington with the Global Excellence Award for Christian Service.
Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com after the presentation, Abeiku Santana expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the organisers for the honour done him.
Well I dont know what to say but I think I am encouraged, empowered, highly elated in the sense that for such an international institution or organization recognizing and appreciating the little that I am doing, is humbling, he said.
He further added for him to be recognized alongside highly distinguished personalities such as the Chief Justice and some Apostles of God, puts him on a high pedestal.
I always say that I am not perfect; I am human so I am fallible, I make mistakes but for the fact that the little yeo-mans work Im doing has being recognized and appreciated has put me...in a straight jacket now because receiving such a prestigious honor alongside the Chief Justice and other important dignitaries means that Im being equated or placed on quite a high pedestal. It has humbled me and again it has awakened my consciousness that some discerning people are watching and listening therefore I need to put my life in a proper shape, he added.
He advised the youth to attach seriousness to whatever they intend doing, especially their eduction and to also strive to positively impact on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians, adding that he strongly believes the youth can rub shoulders with the leaders of the land depending on what they do with their lives.
I'm motivated that we can do something that will bring real change or value into the lives of the ordinary people; for if our lives do not benefit others then our lives are meaningless, Abeiku Santana said.
