Ghanaian Cruiserweight boxing champion, Prince Akron has petitioned the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to allow him fight Braimah Issah Kamoko, popularly known as ‘Bukom Banku’.
Akron claims he is the best boxer to replace Michael Ayitey Powers following his reported pullout of the mega showdown between him and Banku.
The fight was scheduled to come off April 18 but Powers, who has since rescinded his decision, withdrew not citing any explicit reasons.
Reports suggest that Powers has appended his signature to the contract to fight the unbeaten Braimah Kamoko.
But in a telephone conversation, Akron dared ‘Bukom Banku’ to challenge him for the cruiserweight belt and urged the GBA and promoters of the game to sanction such a bout.
“I rule the cruiserweight but ‘Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers go about throwing their weights about in my domain and I won’t sit down and watch them behave this way,” Prince Akron said.
“Remember Braimah Kamoko, popularly called 'Bukom Banku' is not even a Ghanaian but Malian. His father is a Malian and the mother, a Ga,” he alleged.
He, however, said he will be ready to challenge both boxers and urged Banku particularly, to take up the challenge.
According to him, he was waiting on both boxers but really hurt to see Powers signing his side of the contract.
