The Chief Executive Officer of Kpando Heart of Lions, Desmond Frimpong Manso (a.k.a Cocroach), embarked on a trip to Europe last week to negotiate deals aimed at opening the club to modern facilities which will improve the status of the team.

The affable CEO who has since returned home was in Switzerland, Austria, Holland and finally Italy where he met some FIFA agents who introduced him to officials of Atalanta football club.

Per arrangements, Heart of Lions will benefit from various services and facilities that will be rendered by the Serie A club next year and beyond.

Speaking to Peacefm Sports, Cocroach declared “football is now business and thus the need to look for outside help and sponsorship to alleviate the financial pressure on the teams in the country”.

He described the trip as fruitful since he was able to accomplish almost 90 percent of the mission for which he decided to go to Europe.

Lions are close to landing a huge deal with ‘Nike Company’ in Holland and he was optimistic a deal is closer than ever before. If the deal goes through, NIKE will provide kits and other services to the club.

According to the Heart of Lions CEO, one good turn deserves another so he decided to use the opportunity to inquire from a couple of football experts why Ghanaian players do not have longer career periods, but just fizzle out in a year or two after magnificent displays at youth tournaments.

He expressed dismay at the answers he got from them since it hinged on the kind of diet given to Ghanaian footballers as against European players.

"A Ghanaian will eat every thing but Europeans tend to eat special foods even as they grow," was the reply he was given.

He mentioned Clarence Seedorf and Paolo Maldini of AC Milan and David Beckham who are still playing in their thirties as examples.

In another twist, scouts from Europe will be linking up with Heart of Lions to organize tournaments in the country aimed at unearthing talents since they have great interest in Ghanaian players.

Meanwhile coaches of the Kpando based club can have the chance to attend coaching courses at Atalanta if things work out according to plan.
