The Chairman of the Strategic Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr Vincent Sowah Odotei, has described former head coach of the club, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, as a liar who refused to reveal details that led to his departure from the club.

According to Odotei, the Japanese trainer was not sacked as he claimed but he (Kenichi) wrote a letter to the board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, asking to be replaced by a new coach if the club could not wait for his return from his trip.

A portion of the letter which was intercepted by the Graphic Sports yesterday read, “When I arrived here Gerard was the managing director and when I signed the contract I told him that I won’t be available for three weeks in July 2016 in order to take Module Four of the AFC pro Diploma course in Professional Coaching License. He told me we will deal with it when the time comes”.

“I have already taken three out of four modules before I arrived in Ghana and I have to take the last one to complete the course.

I will be out of the country from July 8 to August 1 2016 to Goa, India, where the module is held. The travel will takes 19 hours, therefore, I will be away for 25 days. I have already discussed this with Preko and Nasamu and they have agreed to cover my absence,” he added.

“However, I came to realise that you may not be aware so I am notifying you now. If leaving for 25 days is not acceptable then I can leave from the head coaching post by mutual consent.

My intention is to honour the contract which is for two football seasons until August 2017. However, I do understand the current situation and I will accept it if you decide that this is the right moment to leave by mutual consent and to replace the head coaching position by someone else”, the letter concluded.

Mr Odotei, Frank Nelson Nwokolo and Alhaji Akanbi, who were all at the Hearts’ secretariat yesterday noted that although Kenichi was a pain in their necks , the board as well as management had no intention to sack him but had agreed to tolerate his insolence and allow him handle the team till the end of the season.
