The need for the sports authorities to provide the needed infrastructure that would enhance the promotion of rugby became the focus of attention during the swearing-in of the new executive of the Greater Accra Rugby Association.

Expressing concern about the situation, a former football administrator, Herbert Mensah, said providing the requisite infrastructure to promote rugby would motivate the youth to exhibit their potential more meaningfully.

Mensah made these comments when he, together with nine others, were sworn into office as new executive members of the Greater Accra Rugby Association at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

He noted that rugby had great prospects for the youth and therefore called for a concerted effort from all stakeholders to grow the sport from the grass roots.

A businessman, Bright Dzameshie, was elected as the new President of the association, with Prince Ekow Freeman, an actor, as Vice-President.

Abdul-Aziz Issah, was elected unopposed as General Secretary, with Amuzulo Salim, Ibrahim Abubakar and Farouk Nii Tetteh Nettey elected unopposed as technical director, treasurer and public relations officer respectively.

Four members, Ernest Afloe, Majid Abdul-Karim, Herbert Mensah and Max Palmer-Jeffery, were also sworn into office as executive members during the swearing-in ceremony .

In a remark, the newly elected president pledged to build a new rugby pitch for Greater Accra and improve the welfare of players and officials.
