Inter are following Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure, and a January move is in the offing for the out-of-favour Ivorian.
Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Toure wants to play regular football, something which hasn't happened this season in Spain. Pep Guardiola has often snubbed his man, fuelling speculation that he could pack his bags.
The report suggests Inter are first in line for a slice of the cake thanks largely to president Massimo Moratti's good relations with Barca chief Joan Laporta.
The Spaniard recently announced it would take little effort to strike any future deals with the Italian club following a summer of rubbing shoulders in the Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Samuel Eto'o affair.
"If future transfers are interesting for both parties then I am sure there will be further business between Inter, Barcelona, myself and Moratti," Laporta told Il Corriere Dello Sport.
Toure's agent has stoked the fire further. Dimitri Seluk claims a lack of regular action will force his client out of Camp Nou altogether.
"If Barcelona don't want Toure then we will find another major club for him," the agent is quoted as saying on Puntosport.net.
"I understand that there is always a bit of tinkering in a big team, but how come it's always Toure who is left out?
"He has only played five games, whereas [Seydou] Keita has played ten."
