Birmingham City have had an approach for Liverpool forward Ryan Babel rejected, according to a report from The Daily Mirror.
The Blues, rumoured to have a war chest of 40 million available for the January transfer window following Carson Yeung's takeover of the club, reportedly made a bid of 9m for the player.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez is apparently keen to recoup the 12m paid for the Dutchman two years ago when he moved from Ajax. Babel himself is also keen to move to a club with Champions League prospects.
Reports over the last month or so have claimed that Babel and team-mate Andriy Voronin are set for Anfield exits as Benitez looks to raise cash for some much-needed reinforcement to help boost his side's stumbling season.
