Two top management members of Ghana top-flight side Medeama have been suspended indefinitely for badly advising the club to participate in two pre-season tournaments.
Board members Desmond Frimpong ‘Cockroach’ Manso and Mohammed Alhassan were slapped with the bans after they urged the club to play in the G8 and Kofi Annan Cup.
Medeama played in the G8 tournament and Kofi Annan Cup but eight weeks after the competition finished they have not been paid their participation fees.
Their participation in the tournament is believed to have led to the team’s bad start to the league as the players had little rest in the off-season.
Club owner Moses Armah is angry that despite the huge amounts spent on preparation for the tournament their participation fees have not been paid.
he has asked the two top officials to force tournament organsiers to release the cash or they will stay suspended.
“Until we receive the monies the two officials will stay suspended because they advised us to play in it,” Armah said.
“We must be efficient in the way we operate because we are spending huge amounts of money and those responsible must be held to account.”
“We spent huge amounts in preparing for the tournament so it is only right that we must get our due.”
Coach Bashiru Hayford was the first official to be suspended after their unimpressive start to the season.
