Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong says only players born in Ghana must play for Black Stars. Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has launched a veiled attack on Kevin Prince Boateng insisting only players born in Ghana must be allowed to play in the Black Stars.

This comes after the AC Milan player born in Germany quit the Black Stars insisting he wants to concentrate on AC Milan.

Prince-Boateng, 24, is a former German youth international who was born to a Ghanaian father and German mother. His career was going nowhere when he switched nationality to play for the Black Stars last year at the World Cup.

The teams performance at the tournament in South Africa landed him a big-money move to AC Milan so his decision to quit the Black Stars for no apparent reason has angered many Ghanaians.

Some fans have called for the permanent exclusion of Ghanaian players born abroad because they some of them have touted as opportunists.

Frimpong, who was born in Accra before he moved to London, has joined the debate insisting that players like who are born abroad do not value the Black Stars. Personally Ghana should only call Ghanaian born players. We know the worth of our country, Frimpong tweeted, implying that players born in Ghana are strongly committed to the Black Stars cause.

The tough tackling midfielder is the first player to publicly wade into the debate over foreign-born players even though many others have privately condemned Boatengs decision to retire.

Frimpong recently snubbed England to apply for a nationality switch to play for Ghana.

Some supporters have lamped the likes of Frimpong, who were born in Ghana, together with those born abroad in the wake of Boatengs shocking decision to retire. Frimpongs decision to opt for Ghana disappointed the senior England management and the Football Association.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Accra and has impressed so far this season for Arsenal, played for the England Under-16 and Under-17 sides, before he pulled out of the England Under-21 squad named two months by Stuart Pearce for the Euro 2013 qualifier against Azerbaijan and the friendly against Israel.
