Michael Akuffo’s stunning piledriver gave Kotoko a 2-1 win over ten-man Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League derby to go 12 points clear at the top of the league.
The diminutive box-to-box charger picked a loose ball and blasted to the top right corner just after Hearts had drawn level through level through a powerful free-kick.
Hearts played the entire second half with ten men after Laryea Kingston was red-carded for vicious challenge on left-back Baba Abdul Rahman.
The victory means Kotoko have broken the Kumasi jinx over Hearts as the Porcupine Warriors had not won at home over the Phobians over the past seven years.
