The Ghana government has assured the Black Stars of its 'full support' to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

This was announced by former deputy sports minister, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah, when he visited the Black Stars in their training camp in Abu Dhabi Saturday night.

Dr Omane-Boamah, who has been appointed by government to coordinate the country's participation in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, met the players after dinner at the team's hotel in Abu Dhabi.

He was sent by government to assure the players of the country's support before their departure for the tournament in South Africa.

He was delighted with the team spirit after arriving in the team's camp Saturday morning ahead of Sunday's friendly clash against Tunisia.

"I love the discipline that I have seen. I love the dedication and your commitment to the country and I know the people of Ghana appreciate this," Dr Omane-Boamah said at the meeting with the the Black Stars players.

"As government we are very very happy with the kind of discipline prevailing in camp. We keep on hearing all the things that are happening in camp.

"We are confident that you have what it takes to end our 31-year title drought that has afflicted our country."

The Government also assured the management and technical team of their support to ensure that the continent's biggest football prize was secured for the country.

"The management, the technical team and the playing body have our full support. We will not interfere in technical affairs," Dr Omane-Boamah said.

"All we will do is to intervene positively to make sure that whatever is required for you to be able to win the Cup for us on February 10, will be done.

"I want to repeat that government is not going to interfere in technical affairs of the national team. We are not going to interfere in the core management issues.

"If we will do anything it will be our positive intervention in ensuring that you win the Cup for the people of Ghana."

Dr Omane-Boamah also reiterated that government would help about 700 to 1000 supporters to travel to South Africa to support the Black Stars.

Ghana will start its participation in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on January 20 when it takes on DR Congo in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

It will also play Mali and Niger in the other Group B matches.
