Ghana Black Stars win over Sudan on Sunday produced a gross of GH217,000 (2.17bn) from the gates representing almost a sell-out of the 38,000 tickets that were put up for sale at variable rates of GH4, 7 and GH20.
The Ghana Black Stars received immense support since arrival in the Garden city since Wednesday to the climax on the match-day. Ghana will host Zambia later in September after playing two successive away games to Sudan and Lesotho early on in June.
Impressed by the massive reception and support by Kumasi for last Sundays game World Cup qualifier against Sudan, the Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah in conjunction with the Ghana FA have resolved to have the Baba Yara Stadium host the crucial home game against Zambia later in the year.
This was revealed when the Sports Minister together with GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene on Monday to thank him for the support given the Black Stars in last Sundays 4-0 thrashing of Sudan.
