The senior national team, the Black Stars, have beaten their Sudanese counterparts by three goals to one with ten men in a crucial World Cup Qualifier at the Al-Merreikh Stadium in Omdurman, Sudan.
Chasing a third consecutive appearance at the World Cup finals, the Black Stars were just one point adrift of Zambia with the side that finishes top, advancing to next round.
Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan put Ghana in the lead in the 9th minute but that early lead was cancelled out by a penalty.
Richard Kissi Boateng was shown a straight red card by the Senegalese referee after he was adjudged to have brought down a Sudanese player in the box.
Mudathir Al Tahir scored the equaliser for Sudan through that resultant spot kick, thus handing the Black Stars an uphill task.
The first half ended one all.
Shortly after the interval, Asamoah Gyan got on the score sheet again in the 63rd minute of the game through a brilliant header from a superb Harrison Afful cross.

The Black Stars who were then on cruise control finally sealed victory when AC Milan and Ghana midfielder, Sulley Muntari, scored a much deserved third goal after the Sudanese goalkeeper's howler. He fumbled the ball into the net following a corner-kick expertly taken by the Italian-based player.

The Black Stars now occupy the top spot in Group D. The game was crucial in many respects for the Black Stars as they needed all three points to pile pressure on Zambia who are also in pole position to qualify for the World Cup.
