Coach Kwasi Appiah has proved that he is good coach. His tactics have worked and we hope that no matter our performance at the 2014 World Cup, he will be kept on to groom the Black Stars.

(1) Fatau Dauda (6): Had very little to do but his output was far better performance than in the Ghana-Zambia match where on more than three occasions, the ball slipped from his hands. In this match, he was decisive in punching balls away.

(2) Samuel Inkoom (7): Did well but he needs to watch his overlapping. He must realize that if the ground had not been wet, the Egyptians would have caught him off guard on several occasions.

(3) Daniel Opare (6): He had some difficulty in containing the onslaught of the Egyptians. If one considers that Kwadwo Asamoah was supposed to fall back to help him but hardly did, he deserves the 6.

(4) Jerry Akaminko (6): Was good with his clearances, bearing in mind the ground was slippery and wet. Did well to rush to help Opare when the pressure increased at the left flank.

(5) Rashid Sumaila (5): He conceded the penalty because he could not turn properly. With such a handicap, he must make it a point to avoid giving space to the man he is marking. He plays in the South African premier league and many forwards in that league watched the Ghana-Egypt match. They may exploit that weakness, so he must watch out.

(6) Michael Essien (9): Was Man-Of-The-Match. He was calm in disrupting the Egyptian attacks and used his experience to initiate attacks. He conserved his energy by running into empty spaces and the manner he ‘forced’ the Egyptian captain to score an own goal brought back memories of Essien in full flight. He avoided crunching tackles (because of possible injuries) but proved that Jose Mourinho made a mistake in not including him in Chelsea’s champions League squad.

(7) Andre Ayew (5): Had an average game, below his potential. He must learn to release the balls quickly to avoid the situation of his forwards being constantly in offside positions.

(8) Sulley Muntari (8): Played very well, his free-kicks were on point. That wet grass made it difficult for him to try his thunderbolt shots. His tackles were hard but firm. I am sure he has seen that if he calms down, he gets a good game.

(9) Abdul Waris (8): Young but has the potential to improve. His advantage is that he is often lurking in the box and given time, he will be a handful for many defenders. A good game.

(10) Asamoah Gyan (8 ˝): Played a real captain’s game. Apart from the two goals he scored, his runs distracted the Egyptians. H introduced some humour when he picked the ball and threw it to Muntari to take the penalty kick, as if to say, ‘I no like any trouble’!

(11) Kwadwo Asamoah (7): Compared to his usual game, this was a below par performance. His energy levels seemed low.

Substitutes Christian Atsu who replaced Andre Ayew; Agyeman Badu who replaced Sulley Muntari and Mubarack Wakasu who replaced Asamoah Gyan all did well in the few minutes in action especially Atsu who scored the sixth goal.
