Lepowera M.N.D Jawula, Chairman of the MTN FA Cup committee has accused AshGold for bringing the game of football into disrepute following the Miners’ no show against Kotoko on Sunday.
AshGold refused to turn up for the last eight meeting with Kotoko, citing financial constrains to gift Kotoko a walk over after the game was moved to Accra following the latter’s three home ban on Thursday.
Jawula told GNA Sports that “Without any fear of contradiction, I can tell you that AshGold have brought the game of football into disrepute. “We made a provision for extra 2,000 cedis for their extra travel when they (AshGold) suggested the game be shifted to Bekwai since we had already decided on Accra but they failed to respond”
He said that “Their action left us with no choice than to apply the full sanctions of declaring Kotoko as the winners.” Kotoko qualified to the semi finals having shown up for the game together with the match officials and waited for 30 minutes for Ashgold.
