Asante Kotoko Presents Trophies To Sponsors

First Capital Plus League and MTN Knockout champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Wednesday, presented the two trophies to their headline sponsors, MTN in Accra.

Mr Samuel Opoku Nti, Chief Executive Officer of the club, who led the players to the offices of their sponsors said it was the desire of the club to show appreciation to the communication giants for the support they offered the club.

He said winning the double had been long overdue and that had been their dream adding that the club had been on the finals of the MTN Knock-out on two occasion but could not win.

“”It was a long time that the club won double and winning the double this year was through the support of MTN and we are here to show our appreciation””, Mr Opoku Nti remarked.

Mr Paul Adu Gyamfi, Board Chairman of Kotoko who presented the trophies to Mr Serame Taukobong, Chief Executive Officer of MTN also thanked the company for sponsoring the club for the past three years.

“The MTN-Kotoko partnership has not been in vain, but has yielded the expected fruits and the immeasurable support the company has given to the club has seen us victorious through three consecutive football seasons”. He added.

Apart from winning the league titles in 2011 and 2012 respectively, Kotoko won the Champions of Champions cup in September 2013 and League & FA Cups for the 2013/2014.

”This is an achievement we are proud of and we proudly associate MTN to this feat and expressed the hope that next year, the club would present the African Cup which is their ultimate to the company.

Mr Taukobong, on his part congratulated the team for winning the trophies and encouraged them to push a little more as they compete in Africa for bigger laurels.

For winning the MTN FA Cup and the League, the company presented a cheque for GHC 25,000.00 to the club.

Abeiku Ainooson, captain of the club in an interview said the players would do everything possible to ensure that the trophies are retained.
