A powerful three-man delegation, comprising Lepowura MND Jawula, Randy Abbey, and Magnus Rex Danquah, has submitted to CAF Ghana�s bid to host the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The trio, last Tuesday put in the country�s bid at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, handing it to CAF scribe Hicham El Amrani.
So far, countries that met the September 30 deadline and are confirmed are Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Sudan and Zimbabwe.
Ghana is seeking to host the rest of the continent three years from now, after CAF stripped potential hosts Libya of the rights, for security reasons.
In 2008, a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) team comprising Dr Kofi Amoah, Rex Danquah and other dedicated personalities delivered a spectacular tournament in Ghana, which has gone down in history as one of the best organized football events on the continent.
To the Bid Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, hosting the soccer event in 2017 would offer the country another golden opportunity to show to the whole world what Ghana is capable of, by way of organization and delivery.
The committee stated that the country�s existing infrastructure and Ghana�s pedigree in football on the continent and beyond, puts it in a good stead to win the rights to host Africa in three years time.
