Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has urged young footballers to choose Kotoko over their sworn rivals Hearts of Oak.

Taylor who played for both Clubs is in full praise for the Porcupine Warriors for the generosity towards him during his stint with the Club.

The player who hogged the headlines with his transfer saga from Hearts of Oak to Kotoko in 2003 is appreciative of the support shown to him by the Kumasi-based Club as against that of Hearts of Oak.

His comments came after two former players of the Rainbow Club (Hearts of Oak) Agyemang Duah and Mohammed Polo lashed out at the Club for neglecting its past heroes.

Duah in his comments expressed his regret for playing for the 2000 CAF Champions League winners while Polo also revealed his desire to choose Kotoko ahead of Hearts of Oak on any day.

Taylor who has now been ordained as a pastor has urge upcoming footballers to choose Kotoko over Hearts of Oak in other to have a fruitful life after their careers.

"For me if you’re a player and you want to have a fruitful life after your career, I would advise that you play for Kotoko rather than Hearts. If you play for Kotoko with a good mind and performs exceptionally, you can get whatever you want in life,’’ he told Kumasi-based Boss FM.

"I realized that at Hearts they will hail you if you perform and at Kotoko they will hail you and present you with all sorts of gifts.

"I remember when I came to Kotoko I didn’t take my salary for six months because what I was receiving from the supporters were more than my pay. So if you’re a local player and you want to progress in life you should choose Kotoko ahead of Hearts of Oak,’’

"I still receive gifts from Kotoko supporters. Only big men like TT Brothers normally present us with gift. At Kotoko, even common second-hand goods clothe sell gives you something unlike Hearts."

The former Etoile du Sahel attacker is regarded as one of the talented players Ghana has ever produced in the last two decades.

Persistent injuries on the part of the player gave him no option than to bring his career to an end prematurely having represented Ghana at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (Greece).
