Asante Kotoko continued their surge on the log with a hard fought victory at Bechem United on Wednesday. Bechem United slipped to their first home defeat of the season as goal from Frank Sarfo Gyamfi secured Kotoko a vital a 1-0 win in a tricky clash.
The defeat is also the first for the Hunters under Portuguese trainer Manuel Coelho Zacarias in all competitions.
However, interim manager Michael Osei pulled off the vital victory without prodigy Dauda Mohammed who is on national duty with the Black Satellites.
The Porcupines put up a resolute performance to prevent an impressive Bechem side from taking the lead in the first department.
Bechem united had a good shout for a penalty in the 24th minute when Yaw Anrol was fouled in the box, but referee Bortey waved play on.
But the second half was for Kotoko with their aggressive attacking play that yielded fruit.
Gyamfi grabbed the all important goal as the former Maritzburg winger blasted a stunning strike on target.
Kotoko have now moved up to 4th of the log and will have the chance to extend winning streak to five when they welcome Inter Allies on Sunday.
