Ghana star Kevin-Prince Boateng has confirmed he is joining Spanish champions Barcelona from Sassuolo.

"Barca, I’m coming!" Boateng told Sky Sports. “I’m sad to leave Sassuolo but is a great chance.”

also downplayed previous comments made about Barcelona’s fierce rivals Real Madrid.

In a 2017 interview, Boateng answered he preferred Real Madrid to Barcelona.

However, Boateng says his focus is on his new club and hopes to find the net against Real Madrid in the Clasico.

"Don’t ask me about Real Madrid... is just the past! I only want to focus on Barcelona and I hope to score at Bernabéu for the next Clásico."

The 33-year-old will join Barcelona on loan until the end of the season with the club having an option to sign him permanently for eight million euros.

Boateng only joined Sassuolo in the summer and has scored four goals in 13 Serie A outings, recently playing in a more advanced role.

His previous spell in La Liga was a successful one, Boateng scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances for Las Palmas in 2016-17 before leaving for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Boateng's Europe-hopping career has also seen him play for Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Tottenham, Portsmouth and Milan.

Barcelona have been looking to bolster their attacking options since allowing Munir El Haddadi to join Sevilla.
