Ghana football authorities have not approached Marcel Desailly to take over as the coach of the Black Stars, MTNFootball.com understands. There is widespread speculation that the ex-France international has been contacted by the Ghana Football Association to take over the vacant post. A section of the media has even reported that Desailly will arrive in the country on Friday to hold talks with the GFA over the post vacated by Goran Stevanovic. But insiders have told MTNFootball.com that no decision has been taken yet on the identity of the next coach of the four-time African champions. A meeting of the executive committee of the GFA in the coming days will decide the next line of action to be taken to replace the Serbian coach who was sacked this week. With the 2014 World Cup qualifiers set to start in June, Ghana has just two months to name a substantive coach even though Akwasi Appiah is in charge on temporary basis. The executive committee of the GFA must decide whether to headhunt for a coach or go through the labourious process of calling for interested coaches to apply for the position which could take three months. Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has hinted that headhunting could be used to to recruit the new Black Stars coach. Marcel Desailly, Tanko Ibrahim, Abedi Pele, Dunga and a few others have been linked with the post even though officials have denied contacting them. Ghana will play Lesotho and Zambia in the World Cup qualifiers which start in June.
