First Picture Of Muamba Since Heart Failure

This is the first picture of a smiling Fabrice Muamba since his heart failure posted on Twitter by his fiance. The star, who collapsed on the pitch 13 days ago during an FA Cup tie with Tottenham, is pictured sitting up in hospital. Partner Shauna Magunda, 27, said: "Fab wanted me to post this pic for you all and to also say thank you for such overwhelming support." The snap, put up on the couple's official pages, shows the extent of the Bolton star's remarkable recovery. Doctors said he was "technically dead" for 78 minutes following his collapse at White Hart Lane on March 17. He needed 15 shocks to his heart to restart it on the way to the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green. Muamba then spent days in a critical but stable condition as the football community prayed for him to get well. First progress came when he was able to move his arms and legs and recognise family and friends. Muamba's first words since he came out of a coma were about three-year-old son Joshua. Delighted consultants described his progress had "exceeded our expectations" on March 21. Throughout his time in intensive care his family, including Shauna and his parents Marcel and Gertrude, have maintained a constant vigil.
