Easter Moment Of Truth, Justice And Peace - Most Rev. Akrofi

Most Reverend Dr Justice O. Akrofi, Anglican Bishop of Accra, has called on Ghanaians to use the Easter festive period to reflect on useful virtues like justice, peace, truthfulness and the avoidance of all forms of vices. In an Easter message copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra, he said death by crucifixion alone might suggest disgrace, disaster and defeat by the forces of evil "but with Easter it is a loud and clear message that by the power of God, death could not hold him. Beyond death there is life; beyond defeat and humiliation there can be victory and exaltation and joy, if we walk with God". In the statement signed by Reverend Father Samuel O. M. Codjoe-Addy, Communications Co-ordinator of the Anglican Diocese, Bishop Akrofi described Holy Saturday as a time of uncertainty, when even Jesus Christ's closest associates were not sure that the death was not the end "but in the midst of uncertainties, God is in control. So those who hold on to God, cannot be down-hearted". Bishop Akrofi who is also the Archbishop of Church of the Province of West Africa, said the period served as moment for celebrating the story of Good Friday, that the forces of evil and sin and oppression did not have the last word. He assured Ghanaians that God was in control. "We are reminded that in the final analysis truth stands and lies will fail and fall." Bishop Akrofi said the essential message inculcated by Christianity is something all human beings, irrespective of religion, will do well to internalize so that society and the nation as a whole can move to a land of peace and security.
