Load Shedding Has Not Been Intensified - VRA

The Volta River Authority (VRA) says it has not reviewed the load shedding programme as perceived by a section of the public. Some parts of Accra including Osu, on Tuesday, experienced power outage which led to speculations that there had been a change in the existing power rationing plan. But Public Relations Officer of the VRA, Gertrude Koomson, told XYZ news the authority relaxes the load shedding programme when there is enough supply of power. She said currently there is a load-shedding exercise that the general public must be aware of and that if there is any outage at a time when power is supposed to be on, residents should contact the ECG call centre to report it. The number to the call centre is 0302-611611. Ghana has in recent months been experiencing outages across the country. This has been blamed on the obsolete machines under the purview of the Ghana Grid Company (Gridco) as well as the VRA.
